- Black women are at the most risk for obesity
- “Measures of economic status over the life course generally include at least one indicator from child- hood and one from adulthood.”
- Low economic status when you are a child means that you have an increased risk of having early onset obesity as an adult
- The more education a black woman has the less likely that she will be overweight
Women are not making enough money to afford fresh food therefore their health will decline. Being overweight means that you will get sick more and have to take days off for work. Missing any amount of money in a paycheck can be severely detrimental to the household.
Education and weight are an aspect of a woman’s social status. A thin woman will have a better time getting a job and making more money. There is discrimination against overweight women in the workplace since subconsciously the employer thinks that (s)he will have to pay more for your healthcare and in some cases that is true.
